Job Description

Probation/Parole Officer 2

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community?

Do you thrive in dynamic and demanding situations?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become a key player in preparing clients for successful reentry into society as a Probation Parole Officer at the Iowa Department of Corrections.

As a Probation Parole Officer in our community-based corrections facility, you will be a direct service provider, engaging in high-contact interactions with clients. You will play an essential role in eliciting and supporting pro-social behaviors, with a focus on programming that fosters personal growth and reduces the risk of reoffending.

We value initiative and independent judgment, and you will be part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to observe and assess client behaviors and interactions. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to build quality relationships with clients will be essential in driving positive change.

Initially this position will primarily be assigned to supervise low to moderate risk caseloads of individuals who have been accused of or convicted of a sexual offence or an offense with a sexual component and ordered to pretrial, PSI, probation or parole supervision.

We value integrity, ethical conduct, and attention to detail in all aspects of our work, and we invite you to become an integral part of our team dedicated to transforming lives and promoting community safety.

Work Location

This position can be in either the Ames Area Office or the Marshalltown Area Office covering counties in both catchment areas including Marshall, Hardin, Story, Boone, and others as assigned depending on workload and client needs.

Hours

This is a variable schedule position. The hours are generally 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday with variation to accommodate caseload requirements, pre-trial program requirements, treatment services for clients, traveling, and training.

What We Offer

We have a competitive total compensation package for all our full-time employees, including:

  • Hourly pay ranging from $26.54 to $40.23, depending on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, long term disability, and life insurance
