Job Description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Eligibility Determination is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant 2 to join our team!

Are you organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping others? The Iowa Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is looking for an Eligibility Determinations Administrative Support Assistant to provide essential clerical and customer service support in our Scott County office Monday – Friday from 8 am – 4:30 pm. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and making a difference in their community.

Note: New hires will start at the base salary of $17.29 hourly, $1,383.20 biweekly, $35,963.20 annually.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep our office running smoothly by coordinating operations and managing supplies.
  • Provide friendly, professional assistance to customers and staff—both in person and over the phone.
  • Handle important documents: scanning, indexing, uploading, and distributing mail and correspondence.
  • Support team members with administrative tasks and step in as backup when needed.
  • Stay informed on policies and procedures through training and meetings.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and navigating Windows.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • One year of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work.
  • A total of one year of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Within a period of time after hire, as determined by the appointing authority, employees in this class may be required to type at least 40 WPM net as demonstrated by the completion of a typing examination.
