The Idaho Transportation Department is hiring a Financial Technician to join our administrative team located in Headquarters, Boise, ID.
This position could be the perfect career opportunity if you have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a fast paced, detail-oriented environment. The Financial Technician is responsible for performing a variety of financial and administrative tasks to support the Administrative Division of ITD. This role involves acting as a primary backup for the department’s main number, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, customer service, travel arrangements, and general office duties. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the financial and administrative efficiency of the district.
Office hours are Monday-Friday; 8 am to 5 pm. This position is required to be in the office during open office hours apart from lunches.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Accounts Payable/Receivable
- Input payments and review invoices for accuracy
- Assist departments with financial transactions and reporting
- Communicate with vendors and personnel to resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain financial records, logs, and reports
- Process purchasing card (PCard) transactions and monthly reports
- Make departmental purchases and code financial transactions
- Collect and reconcile payments
- Manage front desk operations, including phone and in person inquiries
- Organize district events and order supplies
- Maintain conference room calendars and sign-in sheets
- Assist with mail processing, scheduling, and travel arrangements
- Enter and submit employee timesheets for approval
- Resolve payroll coding errors and adjustments
- Provide payroll reports to supervisors and ensure payroll accuracy
- Interpret and explain payroll policies to employees
Experience
- Researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports
- Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data
- Financial Record Keeping
- Experience in accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, or administrative support
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong problem solving and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency
