This key leadership role is located in Boise Idaho and is dedicated to promoting and protecting the health of the approximately 600,000 residents of Ada, Boise, Elmore, and Valley counties.
As District Director, you will serve as a prominent public health leader, appointed by the Board of Health and acting as secretary to the Board, you will guide an organization of approximately 145 employees with an annual budget of $16 million, overseeing a wide range of public health programs that directly affect the wellbeing of our communities. Typical Duties:
- Provides strategic leadership for a complex, multi‑functional public health organization;
- Directs planning, delivery, and evaluation of public health services;
- Represents the district in community partnerships, public forums, and interagency collaborations;
- Supports and advises the Board of Health related to public health matters;
- Champions initiatives that improve health outcomes across the region;
- Directs overall preparation and presentation of the annual budget;
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relations with multiple public and private agencies, legislators, and county commissioners.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
- 10 or more years in a senior management role utilizing strategic leadership principles and proficiency in driving organizational results;
- Possess a strong commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and accountability in the stewardship of public resources;
- Demonstrates understanding of the current public health climate, including the ability to recognize where traditional models have fallen short and to lead practical, outcome-driven strategies that produce measurable improvements in obesity, chronic disease, and overall community health;
- Exceptional knowledge of planning principles and practices;
- A combination of specialized knowledge and practical experience in providing public health services;
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to professional groups including elected officials.

Salary : $16 - $2,500
