About the Agency : The Idaho Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) provides administration, leadership, and coordination for secondary and post-secondary programs in career technical education (CTE) across the state of Idaho. With a customer-service focus, the Division leads Idaho’s efforts to prepare youth and adults for high-skill, in-demand careers.
Summary: The Standards and Assessments Coordinator will facilitate the development, implementation, and ongoing support of career technical education assessments and standards across Idaho. This position collaborates with educators, administrators, and industry partners to ensure assessments align with state and national standards, validate student learning, and meet workforce needs. The coordinator will also provide technical assistance, training, and data analysis to strengthen assessment practices statewide.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, data-driven, and committed to improving student outcomes through high-quality assessments and rigorous, industry-aligned standards.
Responsibilities:
Standards and Assessment Management:
- Coordinate planning, development, review, and implementation of CTE standards and assessments.
- Collaborate with educators, industry representatives, and subject matter experts to validate standards and assessments of content and rigor.
- Monitor and update standards to reflect industry trends, best practices, and evolving workforce needs.
- Collaborate on the development of new statewide programs.
- Support the alignment of SkillStack badges to program standards.
- Coordinate formatting and publishing standards.
Training, Support, and Communication:
- Provide training and technical assistance to stakeholders on standards alignment and assessment processes.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to support internal and external stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical information into accessible guidance for a variety of audiences.
- Facilitate mapping and cross walking standards.
- Support development of standards that articulate progression from middle school to secondary to postsecondary, to employment.
- Monitor assessments to meet accommodation requirements.
Data and Evaluation:
- Analyze assessment data to inform decision-making, program improvement, and policy recommendations.
- Monitor the effectiveness of standards and assessments implementation, recommending improvements as needed.
- Evaluate programs and standards to ensure alignment with workforce needs and state initiatives.
- Research and recommend innovative assessment models and tools.
- Research national trends related to emerging CTE programs and standards.
Other Duties:
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative environment by working effectively across departments and teams.
- Other duties as assigned.
Some travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or two years of equivalent work experience. Typically gained by employment in a closely related field such as education, training, assessment, and evaluation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing ongoing projects of varying scope. Typically gained by planning, organizing, initiating, and monitoring complex projects.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation skills. Typically gained by at least one year of professional experience in presenting, facilitation, or training in project or program coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, training, curriculum development; or a closely related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Project management certification, or closely related experience gained from managing various sized projects.
- Experience with large-scale assessment design, validation, or administration.
- Experience collaborating with educators and industry partners to develop technical standards or assessments.
- Experience with bias, sensitivity, and fairness principles, or the ability to obtain relevant training.
- Familiarity with assessment platforms or online testing environments.
- Familiarity with technical standards setting and revalidation process.
- Knowledge or experience with Idaho’s educational system, particularly career technical education.
- Experience with A.I. prompt engineering and/or development and use of agentic A.I.
