JOB SUMMARY:

This is a Tax Law Specialist position in the General Tax Administration Program’s, Resource Management, Compliance Standards and Case Processing Unit. The incumbent provides senior-level assistance involving the analysis, interpretation, and application of tax laws, rules, court decisions, departmental policies, and procedures for taxes administered by the Department to ensure the accurate processing of case results and supports the implementation and communication of procedural changes. The incumbent also reviews and analyzes selected case files involving complex tax law issues to identify areas where policies or procedures should be developed, modified, clarified, or amended.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue in the General Tax Administration Program.
  • Seven years of experience conducting or reviewing sales and use tax audits, or sales and use tax refund verification audits in the General Tax Administration Program.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in accounting, economics, or area of business can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required work experience.
  • A master's in business administration can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required work experience.

PREFERENCES:

  • Extensive technical knowledge of sales and use tax, or corporate income tax.
  • Experience in PRD and CRM within the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

SALARY: The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $5,838.36 monthly/$70,060.32 annually.
