This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as the Assistant Institution Superintendent for Northeast Florida State Hospital. - Coordinate the activities of all institutional staff relative to customer service and customer service improvement; review and analyze reports of key management performance indicators; and ensure that necessary corrective actions are accomplished in a timely manner.
- Direct, develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives designed to meet the hospital’s mission, vision, values, long-term strategic objectives, and annual business plan objectives. Evaluate and improve effectiveness of programs designed to implement business activities.
- Serve as contact for court system, community mental health system, public stakeholders and legislation delegation.
- Establish, monitor, and recommend improvements with key measures of performance of all organizational entities in assuring management excellence, treatment excellence, and customer/partner satisfaction in the most cost-effective manner possible.
- Assist in the development and implementation of budgetary needs and controls; allocate resources among operational units and make periodic adjustments to reduce controllable expenses.
- Assure adherence to federal, state and other applicable regulatory requirements, ensuring that all living areas meet applicable rules, regulations, and hospital licensure requirements.
- Develop and assure implementation of strategies to achieve Annual Business Objectives; assist in the development of Long -term Strategic Objectives for facility, assuring key measures of performance are monitored and processes improved when indicated.
- Knowledge of the operations of a mental health treatment facility or acute care hospital.
- Ability to manage large and diverse budget resources.
- Ability to plan and direct overall operations of a mental health facility or acute care hospital.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration or Operations Management with five years experience leading, optimizing, and growing complex healthcare teams, or related work in healthcare administration or hospital operations, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
- Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
- Three years of experience serving in a hospital senior leadership role or on a senior leadership team.
- Experience in Hospital or Physician Practice Management.
- Master’s degree desired in business, healthcare administration, or operations management.
- Experience with in-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, policies, and accreditation standards.
- Experience with a proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving results.
- Experience in Budgeting and Finances.
- Experience in Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
- Experience in Forensic or Corrections.
- Experience in Mental Health.
