Summary Statement

This position is a part of the Division Office of Volunteer and Community Involvement team and will have direct leadership and administration responsibilities for the volunteer programs within a region of parks in the Delaware State Parks system. The principal responsibilities of this position will include direct coordination, administration, and on site leadership of volunteer activity within the assigned parks, scheduling Volunteer Calendar events, recruitment, placement, and selection of volunteers including Hosts, and community groups and volunteers, and developing new volunteer engagement activities.

Essential Functions

Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here. •\tProvides volunteer management and coordination duties under the direction of the Office of Volunteer and Community Involvement. •\tRecruits, interviews and selects volunteers. •\tSupervises volunteers and volunteer service projects. •\tMust be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills. •\tAssesses the need for volunteers and volunteer projects through consultation with park personnel. •\tAssigns and places volunteers. •\tConducts volunteer orientation and training. •\tCoordinates volunteer recognition. •\tMaintains and reports on hours of service and other records as required. •\tAssists in Statewide volunteer events as requested. •\tAssists and coordinates with Friends organizations in each park. •\tPerforms other related work as required

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Regional Volunteer Manager 1.\tOne year experience in using standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets or databases. 2.\tOne year experience in supervising groups, staff or volunteers. 3.\tKnowledge of natural, cultural, historical resources or parks and recreation. 4.\tKnowledge of public speaking or interpretation. 5.\tPossession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
