Description Of Job

General Statement Of Duties:

The Peer Training Specialist provides onboarding and localized training to court employees within their district. Additionally, the position is responsible for training-related projects and implementing statewide procedural changes when applicable.

Salary offers are made based on several factors, including relevant experience, available budget, and compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, aligned with our compensation step plan. Please include any relevant experience that you would like considered in the process.

The Peer Training Specialist position may office out of any of the three 14 th District Court locations and will travel to provide onboarding and localized training to court employees within the district.

Interviews will be held on April 28th

Essential Functions:

  • Creates and administers local onboarding plans. Shows employees local resources, facilities and introduces personnel to new employees.
  • Trains employees by using hands-on direction and verbal coaching for court case processing with application of any local practices used. Sits with the employee while working on court dockets, at workstations in clerk’s office, and shadows interactions with court customers. Allows repeated opportunity for learner to apply skills learned.
  • Reviews demonstrated work and provides feedback on the work product of the employees.
  • Schedules observation time of courtroom and/or clerk’s office. Assists in scheduling formal training for both HR mandatory classes and court education training for staff.
  • Mentors new or underperforming employees or divisions/units/teams. May inform supervisors or Clerk of Court of employee performance issues and help implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Reinforces formal training for all court employees and utilizes the training activities created by the Court Education Specialists.
  • Analyzes current training and provides feedback and recommendations to training creators/specialists when applicable.
  • Creates and maintains local work resources and job aids. Responsible for promoting and marketing resources.
  • Works data integrity reports and tracks local district adherence.
  • Serves as a district liaison with the State Court Administrator’s Office including Court Services, Court Education Specialists, the CORE Unit, and Distance Learning Units.
  • Attends meetings and trainings as required including classes and conferences, on an ongoing basis, to maintain knowledge, skills, and awareness of legislative changes. Participates in all state Peer Training Specialist programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities

Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. The position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments.

Human Collaboration

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.

Freedom To Act & Impact Of Actions

Employees normally perform assignments according to their own judgment, requesting Supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.

Knowledge & Skills

Recognized authority in an area of expertise related to the work. Technical expertise is sought out by others across organization. Incumbent can apply technical skills in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts.

Fiscal Responsibility

Position has no fiscal responsibility.

Education And Experience Equivalency

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree

OR

Experience court processes and court data management systems may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience

At least Two (2) years of court processes and court data management systems.

Licenses And Certifications

None.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in training employees on work duties.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.t

Work Environment/Locations:

Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Office environment.

Exposures

Individuals who are hostile or irate; individuals with known violent backgrounds.
