Ensure that all financial processes and transactions comply with applicable state, federal, and departmental regulations. Provide oversight and guidance to junior accounting staff, ensuring proper training and adherence to accounting procedures and policies. Work with auditors to provide necessary information and respond to audit inquiries.
Knowledge And Skills
Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes. Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for decision-making. Proficiency in managing accounts payable and receivable processes and verifying financial transactions. Understanding of state and federal financial regulations and ability to ensure adherence to these standards. Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel) and other financial management tools.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 3 years of accounting experience.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
