What You Will Be Doing
This position primarily supports the attorneys and paralegals in the Child Protection Section in the Palmer Office. Law office assistants are responsible for formatting, proofreading, and editing; drafting; data entry; scheduling; case management; document management of mail, email, and other records; coding invoices; maintaining office equipment and supplies; answering phones; filing documents in a multitude of judicial venues; and other duties as assigned.
The Law Office Assistant 1 is a training-level position with more limited exposure to these duties and responsibilities whereas a Law Office Assistant 2 is expected to perform these essential job functions and more at an advanced and independent level.Mission and Culture

Our office is located in the Palmer State Office Building in beautiful downtown Palmer. This position works in a cubicle inside the bustling shared space between the Civil and Criminal Divisions.

Minimum Qualifications
Law Office Assistant 1 Minimum Qualifications (Range 11)
One year of experience that involves some combination of providing significant customer service contact; eliciting or exchanging information as related to requirements or procedures necessary to secure services, authorizations, or goods on behalf of the client; and/or performing standard administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence or reports, filing, entering data, receiving payments, and/or maintaining logs and includes the regular, proficient use of electronic management information systems and word processing and other standard business software applications.
Law Office Assistant 2 Minimum Qualifications (Range 13)
One year of specific experience as a Law Office Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska;

Last two (2) Performance Evaluations
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Notary issued through the State of Alaska.
