Paralegal

Law Office Of Justin S. Eppler
Anchorage, AK Full Time
POSTED ON 4/17/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/15/2026

This is not your typical paralegal role. We need someone who can conduct a compassionate intake call with a workers' compensation claimant in the morning, manage civil litigation discovery in the afternoon, and proactively identify what needs to happen next to keep cases moving—all without needing constant supervision.

You'll serve as a critical bridge between clients and our legal team, managing both client relationships and substantive legal work across workers' compensation, civil litigation, estate planning, and probate and trust administration matters. This role offers genuine autonomy, diverse work, and the opportunity to shape our systems and workflows as we grow.

This role is ideal for a paralegal who:

  • Thrives on variety and can shift seamlessly between practice areas
  • Takes initiative and ownership (doesn't wait to be told what to do next)
  • Enjoys both client interaction AND legal analysis/drafting
  • Wants to be more than a task-completer—wants to drive case outcomes
  • Values working in a collaborative Anchorage office where contributions are visible and valued
  • Can be an advocate and ambassador for the firm in the local legal community

Work Location:

This is an in-office position in Anchorage during your first 90 days for effective training and integration. We strongly prefer a local candidate who can be present in our office. Limited hybrid flexibility may be considered after the probationary period based on performance, trust, and business needs.

What We Offer

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually based on experience
  • Paralegal work billed at $200/hour
  • Performance-based bonus potential
  • Annual compensation reviews with merit increases

Benefits Package:

  • Health Retirement (begin after 90-day probationary period):
  • Healthcare stipend to support your health insurance costs
  • Retirement benefits through SEP-IRA with employer contribution matching
  • Potential access to group insurance programs through the Alaska Bar Association

Time Off:

  • Two weeks paid vacation after 90-day probationary period (year one)
  • Potential for expanded PTO after the first year based on performance and tenure
  • Federal holidays recognized
  • Flexible holiday scheduling
  • Use-it-or-lose-it policy to encourage work-life balance

Professional Development:

  • Annual CLE and professional development budget
  • Support for Alaska Paralegal Association membership and involvement
  • Paid time for continuing education and professional certifications
  • Opportunities to attend legal conferences and training

Technology Work Environment:

  • All technology provided: Computer, headset, and necessary software
  • Modern practice management system (Clio Manage/Grow)
  • Well-equipped office space in Anchorage
  • Potential WiFi reimbursement if a hybrid arrangement is approved

Work-Life Balance Culture:

  • Sustainable pace—we value work-life balance and don't expect 60-hour weeks
  • Collaborative culture with direct access to attorneys
  • Meaningful work where you see direct impact on client outcomes
  • Hours: 30-40 hours per week (full-time, ideally 40 hours)

Career Growth:

  • Exposure to diverse legal matters across workers' compensation, civil litigation, estate planning, and probate/trust administration
  • Increasing responsibility as you demonstrate capability
  • Skill diversification—develop expertise across multiple practice areas rather than being pigeonholed
  • Input into firm systems and workflows as we grow
  • Opportunity to become a key team member in a growing firm

Total Benefits Value: Approximately $450-$750/month in addition to base salary
