This position will perform customer service duties and process criminal case documents. 


* Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement. 

* Employees working in this job classification will be considered for annual salary increases upon successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. This job classification will promote to range 11 after successful completion of three years of service with the court.


This position will process District and Superior Court criminal files from open to close. You will accept charging documents, issue summons and/or arrest warrants, calendar cases for arraignment, coordinate prisoner transport, and enter information into the case management system.
 
You will also respond to inquiries in writing, in person, or by phone from court personnel, attorneys, other agencies, and the general public regarding policies, procedures, and rules on all criminal matters. Additionally, you will be responsible for running designated reports, receipting monies for bail, fines, court cost, and restitution, and serve as back up in-court clerk as needed.


The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience.

 

Substitution:

 

Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a month-for-month basis.

 

Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience.

 

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis.

EDUCATION

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants.
