JOB GRADE 10: $48,531.38 to $60,664.23 Targeted Annual Salary Incentive Plan


JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Development Officer collaborates with the sales team at State ECU and key relationships in our communities. This person contributes to the support of sales staff and representatives, branch sales quotas, and assists the credit union in community engagement and proactive growth performance. They will manage and grow new and existing relationships to generate business for State ECU by way of direct and indirect sales related activities.

*This position allows for flexibility to work remotely.

  • Remote work arrangements for this position must live within the state of New Mexico, as regular travel and businesses development with current and potential clients will be required.
  • Further, all credit union employees are required to report to various office and branch locations as needed to carry out the functions of their positions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with prospective members, organizations and businesses, while maintaining existing relationships.
  • Research, identify and drive business growth opportunities in alignment with State ECU's vision and goals.
  • Contribute in development, improvement, and influence of a passionate sales and service culture within the Credit Union.
  • Develop and follow up on B2B and B2C leads.
  • Actively participate in online and offline outreach, attend community events, networking, meetings and other effective lead generation and relationship building activities.
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development, Marketing, other departments, and peers to build and deliver sales and service resources to front-line staff.
  • Help develop training programs for the organization's sales representatives, developing scripts, and procuring other sales resources and strategies.
  • Develop creative and strategic initiatives aimed at filling gaps in the market and presenting these solutions to our Select Employer Group partners and prospects.
  • Be a liaison to branches to support sales and service culture & resources, business development presentations, growth strategies, and goals.
  • Coordinate schedules and attendance with appropriate State ECU managers to attend and participate in local SEG and community events.
  • Stay informed on major community development issues that potentially impact our SEGs, membership, and the communities served by the Credit Union and identify solutions to meet their needs.
  • Assist the VP Sales and Service in creating, maintaining, and evaluating the effectiveness of personal and Credit Union sales goals, including regular tracking and reporting of performance.
  • Understand, support and help lead Financial Education seminars.
  • Successfully utilize software (CRM, Excel, Word) to maintain and further develop a database of leads, opportunities, and projects.
  • Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and administrative tasks.
  • Visit and support each branch location in fulfillment of business development activities; visits will be on a frequent and regular basis.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of State ECU's systems, technology, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Exceptional relationship building, networking, and member-first mindset.
  • Demonstrate excellent listening, written, and presentational skills, with the ability to deliver concise and effective messaging to a variety of audiences.
  • Experienced in delivering effective presentations and executing tactful sales and service strategies at all times.
  • Must be able to engage and collaborate with peers, departments, vendors, and community partners in fulfilling organizational needs and desired outcomes.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite of products, in addition to various internal systems utilized by the department.
  • Self-starter who works well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, overcome obstacles, assess priorities, and deliver high quality results.
  • Experienced in planning and implementing sales strategies.
  • Advanced skill in the sales cycle process and employment of business development tactics and methods.
  • Job Related Travel - As required; estimated travel is 50% of the time.
  • Passionate about providing great member service.

Education/Experience:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, in addition to 3 plus years of experience in a Sales environment is required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) is highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times with occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
