State Fund has a position available for an IT Architect - Claims at our Vacaville Information Technology location. The position is being offered as permanent.
State Compensation Insurance Fund is seeking an IT Architect – Claims who will act as a primary technical principal and is responsible for leading other software engineers to architect, design, integrate and implement management products.
The tasks for the IT Architect – Claims include, but are not limited to, the following:

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.

Job Description And Duties

State Compensation Insurance Fund is seeking an IT Architect – Claims who will act as a primary technical principal and is responsible for leading other software engineers to architect, design, integrate and implement management products.
The tasks for the IT Architect – Claims include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyze and understand the current claims life cycle from creation through closure
- Migrate the current claims system to a web based architecture
- Reverse engineer Oracle Forms based code and document design for migration
- Convert Oracle Reports to a web based reporting platform
- Lead other software engineers to design and implement well-integrated products
- Define and evolve the architecture for the system
- Expert in all technical aspects of the product
- Develop creative solutions and write technical design & architecture documents
- Cross-train developers on product features that are implemented
- Perform hands-on software design and development in Java, Oracle Forms, and Oracle Database
- Develop and execute unit tests for product components
- Establish architectural standards and best practices
- Work closely with management to determine feasibility of product features
