What You'll Do
- Process payroll data and ensure compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws
- Prepare, sort, copy, file, and distribute invoices, checks, receipts, correspondence, and related financial documents
- Audit invoices against purchase requisitions and reconcile discrepancies for payment
- Prepare accounts payable checks and maintain accurate payment records
- Research and resolve vendor payment issues, chargebacks, refunds, freight charges, and related discrepancies
- Monitor accounts payable activities to ensure accurate and timely payments
- Track grant payable activities, including invoicing, reporting deadlines, and compliance requirements
- Assist with monthly schedules and audit preparation
- Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and provide general ledger support
- Assist with monthly and annual financial closings
- Compile payroll information including hours worked, taxes, insurance deductions, and employee data
- Review payroll calculations and correct discrepancies as needed
- Coordinate with Human Resources regarding benefits and payroll-related matters
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll, employee, and financial information
- Support departmental operations and participate in team initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Six months to one year of accounting, payroll, finance, or administrative experience preferred
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to successfully complete Background, MVR, and Drug-Free Workplace screenings
- Knowledge of accounting software, payroll systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software
Preferred
- Experience with accounts payable and payroll processing
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage confidential information professionally
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
