Description

Starter Bakery is looking for a friendly and dynamic Barista. The right candidate will be dedicated to crafting delicious and beautiful espresso drinks, genuine customer service, and committed to learning and serving great coffee and specialty beverages. We are seeking driven individuals with sincerely positive attitudes.

Responsibilities

• Make espresso beverages following proper technique and methods. Make espresso beverages following proper technique and methods
• Monitor drip coffee and brew according to schedule , making note of waste and time
• Consistently make delicious beverages, with latte art being a bonus
• Monitor cold brew and iced tea, and brew according to inventory and business needs
• Prepare specialty coffees and drinks based on Starter Bakery policies and procedures
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked coffee station, making sure all supplies and materials are accessible (i.e. milk and coffee beans) and rotated according to FIFO
• Properly clean espresso machine, calibrate shots, clean hoppers, and provide maintenance to machine when necessary (or inform a supervisor)
• Restock and monitor inventory levels of condiment bar, replacing and restocking when needed
• Provide excellent customer service, engage with customers throughout their experience
• Knowledge of the POS system to assist if needed
• Knowledge of all pastries, desserts, baked goods, and savory items to assist customers and team members when needed
• Present ideas for new beverages, including syrups, vendors, flavors, etc.
• Assists in cleaning of all areas within bakery, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing glass
• Successfully work with others and foster a collaborative environment
• Uphold the Starter Bakery brand purpose, ensures all product served aligns with Starter Bakery standards
• Other duties, as assigned

Working Conditions / Essential Functions:

• Ability to work 8-10 hour-plus shifts, plus ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to grasp, push, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work well with others, those of all backgrounds and ages, and exemplify strong leadership skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment with willingness to adapt and change based on cafe needs
• Ability to work underpressure while remaining calm

Position Requirements:

• Understands the importance of quality product, visual presentation, efficient production, workplace safety, and sanitation
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to do so professionally and effectively
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Positive attitude with a willingness and desire to learn and grow
• California Food Handler’s Card
• Covid Vaccinated
