The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising finish carpentry crews on commercial and/or multi - residential construction projects. This position coordinates daily activities, ensures quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, and works alongside team members to complete finish carpentry installations according to plans, specifications, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities, Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and coordinate finish carpentry crews.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor work progress.
  • Train, mentor, and develop carpenters and apprentices.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Communicate project requirements and expectations to crew members.

Finish Carpentry Work

  • Install doors, frames, hardware, trim, molding, cabinetry, casework, wall panels, countertops, and finish materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and project specifications.
  • Ensure precise measurements, layouts, and installations.
  • Perform quality inspections and correct deficiencies as needed.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Monitor material usage and request supplies as needed.
  • Track project progress and report updates to management.
  • Assist with scheduling and workforce planning.

Safety & Quality

  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and inspections.
  • Maintain high craftsmanship and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and building codes.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of finish carpentry experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of finish carpentry techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and layout equipment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work at heights.
  • Capability to work in varying weather and jobsite conditions.

Preferred Experience

  • Commercial finish carpentry projects.
  • Custom millwork installation.
  • Architectural woodwork and casework.
  • Healthcare, education, hospitality, or corporate interior construction.
  • Experience managing crews of 3–15 employees.
