Job Summary
We are a small residential repair and remodel business looking to grow. We focus mostly on doors, windows, decks, stairs, siding, kitchens, baths and overall home repairs. We are currently looking for a lead carpenter with the experience and initiative to help move jobs along, interact with customers, and lead a small crew. Working directly with the project manager and the client to provide the best project experience from start to finish.
Duties
- Lead and supervise crews in residential repair and remodel services
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans to guide project execution accurately.
- Have a general knowledge of current building practices and IRC
- Coordinate the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and other machinery necessary for construction tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, building codes, and project timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Manage materials inventory including dimensional measurements, framing components such as metal studs, trim carpentry elements, and other construction supplies.
- Oversee the proper use, care and maintenance of tools
- Collaborate with project managers to plan schedules, assign tasks efficiently, and troubleshoot on-site issues promptly.
- Facilitate communication between team members regarding schematics and technical instructions for accurate execution of work.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in residential carpentry - frame to finish
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and measuring devices such as tape measures for dimensional accuracy.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations essential for measurements and material estimations.
- General knowledge of other trades that impact jobs and interaction with sub contractors and other partners
- Strong understanding of safety standards across construction sites with the ability to enforce compliance effectively.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage teams efficiently while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Valid experience in interpreting technical drawings related to metal stud framing or other specialized construction plans is preferred.
