The Registered Nurse (RN) Charge is responsible for overseeing nursing staff, providing direct patient care, and ensuring quality patient outcomes in the Women's Services Department at Starr Regional Medical Center.
This role involves assessing patients, establishing care plans, mentoring staff, and responding to patient care complaints. The RN Charge will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient conditions.
- Establish a plan of care tailored to each patient's needs, involving them according to their capabilities and preferences.
- Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
- Determine staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, skills, census, patient acuity, and workflow.
- Provide direct patient care as needed.
- Float between departments to assist with problem-solving.
- Take on patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify any issues affecting desired outcomes.
- Address patient complaints and manage through established channels.
- Perform role-specific duties, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
- Ensure staff has necessary equipment and supplies for safe, quality patient care.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree in Nursing: Preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing: Required.
- Registered Nurse license in the State of Tennessee or another compact state.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Required at time of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required within 6 months of hire or upon transferring into a new department.
