The Incoming Quality Control Lab (IQC) Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of IQC inspectors who perform incoming inspection of all incoming materials for building battery cells/modules utilizing appropriate inspection equipment and methodology in support of the Supplier Quality Management (SQM) Group. Management responsibilities of inspectors include time, attendance, training, and working with Labor Relations to appropriately take actions when needed. The IQC Supervisor is responsible for verification of standards for all incoming battery material inspections and for updating and optimizing incoming inspection standards as needed. The IQC Supervisor is responsible to ensure that all incoming inspections are carried out based on the internal procedures and policies in a timely manner to support ongoing production. When defects are found, the IQC Supervisor must work with Supplier Quality Engineers in the SQM Group to lead in containment, analysis, and resolution to prevent defect propagation. The IQC Supervisor is also responsible for documentation, communication, and sharing of corrective actions for all issues found during incoming inspection process.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Conduct training, coaching, and mentoring support for IQC Inspectors. Ensure IQC Inspectors complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Lead investigation and root cause analysis of non-conformances
- Ensure continuous monitoring of all corrective actions and process improvement measures
- Review and update inspection standards, specifications, manuals, procedures / forms, and lesson learned activities. Facilitate reviews to eliminate internal systemic and external roadblocks
- Ensure on-going data collection and analysis to assure quality and perform data analysis to identify areas for improvement of quality system
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to clarify business and technical requirements for Supplier Quality Assurance
- Continues improvement activity to optimize and enhance the efficiency of quality and inspection systems and prepare updates and reports of quality outcome to communicate quality activities
- Maintain inspection equipment / consumables / SOPs / Other things needed for proper IQC Lab operating & Inspections and perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to ensure inspection accuracy and repeatability
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automated production environment as engineer, technician, supervisor, or other plant management positions
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various level of employees within all areas of the organization including hourly employees to Senior Leadership
- Ability to build effective cross functional relationships internally and externally
- Ability to coach / mentor / develop IQC Inspectors
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, reading prints and specifications
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Experience working in Chemical Laboratory
- Experience working in Battery Manufacturing Industry
- Experience in working in Union Shop
- Bilingual English / Korean
- Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
- Shainin Red X / Six Sigma Certification
- Experience with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plans, FMEA, Production Part Approval Process, MSA, and SPC (Statistical Process Control)
- Experience with quality certification and system such as ISO9001/IATF16949 is required
- Familiar with World Class Manufacturing pillar methodology and implementation
- Extensive knowledge in Data Analytics utilizing MS Excel, MS Access or other database applications
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google Suite software programs
- ASQ Certification in Quality and Reliability
