ABOUT THE ROLE
Reports To: Legal Nurse Consultant Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
The Legal Nurse Consultant provides high-level nursing and medical analysis on complex legal matters. Working closely with attorneys, this role evaluates medical records, identifies liability and causation issues, supports defense strategy, and transforms clinical data into clear, persuasive legal insight.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and interpret medical records to assess the appropriateness and quality of care.
- Evaluate medical records for completeness in preparation for attorney review.
- Prepare detailed medical chronologies, timelines, and comprehensive summaries.
- Analyze medical records to evaluate the claimant’s medical condition and course of treatment.
- Identify potential issues related to standard of care, liability, and causation.
- Retain and coordinate with medical experts.
- Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions, hearings, and trial.
- Conduct medical literature research and support additional investigative efforts.
- Draft memoranda, reports, and other case-related documents.
- Perform additional case-related duties as assigned.

Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
- Master of Science in Nursing (preferred)
Experience
- 7 years of clinical nursing experience required
- Substantial long-term care experience required
- Legal Nurse Consulting experience is a plus, but not required

Physical & Work Requirements
- Attendance –Regular attendance during regularly scheduled work hours.
