What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapy Assistant position at Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities?
Oversees individual treatment of children under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist with focus on addressing student’s ability to move and perform functional activities within their educational environment.
Schedules, plans, and carries out individual treatment of children, with focus on instructing, motivating, safeguarding, and assisting child as they practice exercises or functional activities.
Assists in the development of Individual Education Plans, treatment plans, carries out routine functions, documents the progress of student toward goals and modifies specific treatments in accordance with the child’s status and within the scope of plan established.
Performs standardized testing (competence determined by supervising physical therapist)
Communicates orally and in written form at staff/team meetings regarding child status.
Functions as an integral member of the IEP team, and develop and maintain working relationships with peers and members of other disciplines as appropriate to his/her job responsibilities.
Assists other team members with care as necessary.
Maintains equipment, supplies, and materials to provide a safe treatment environment.
Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Documents student data related to attendance, sessions, and present level of performance as required by either the supervising physical therapist.
Assists with keeping inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment as delegated by the supervising physical therapist.
Assists with other related duties as delegated by the supervising physical therapist.
Participates in all in-service education, workshops, and other continuing education experiences as appropriate.
Required Experience:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program, Valid State of Ohio professional licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant, along with Ohio Department of Education registration in given occupation.
