About the Role
StarFish Medical is seeking a Vice President, Business Development to drive growth by identifying, developing, and closing new medical device product development engagements across a defined North American territory.
This role is ideal for a senior business development leader who thrives in a consultative, relationship-driven sales environment. You will work with innovative MedTech companies, from well-funded start-ups to large multinational medical device organizations, to help them navigate complex product development challenges using StarFish's multidisciplinary design, engineering, and regulatory expertise.
You will represent StarFish externally, build long-term client partnerships, and work closely with internal technical and program teams to ensure opportunities are well-qualified and successfully launched.
What You'll Do
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified medical device development opportunities
- Consistently meet or exceed annual revenue targets within your territory
- Identify and engage prospective clients seeking outsourced medical device design and development services
- Lead consultative discovery conversations to assess technical, commercial, and strategic fit
- Develop tailored proposals in collaboration with engineering and program teams
- Maintain trusted, long-term relationships with clients throughout the sales cycle and beyond
- Represent StarFish at conferences, trade shows, and industry networking events
- Collaborate with Marketing to support regional demand-generation initiatives
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and activity reporting
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field
- 5 years of successfully driving business development within the medical device or Life sciences
- Strong technical acumen and ability to communicate complex development concepts
- Proven ability to close consulting services or complex solution-based sales
- Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
- High emotional intelligence (EQ) and a relationship-first approach to selling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling engineering consulting or outsourced product development services
- Familiarity with medical device regulatory requirements (FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
Salary
Base Salary Commission.
Base salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
Commission: Quarterly Commission based on sales performance
Additional Compensation: Employees are eligible for a profit-sharing program
