Community Outreach Specialist

We are seeking a Community Outreach Specialist who is passionate about relationship-building, community engagement, and advancing inclusive practices. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who enjoys being out in the community, connecting people to resources, and amplifying meaningful work.
Position Summary
The Community Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in advancing Starbridge’s mission by developing, implementing, and evaluating outreach strategies that increase awareness of our programs and services. This position focuses on building strong community partnerships, engaging underserved populations, and expanding access to supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
This role works collaboratively with Marketing, Communications, Development, and program staff, as well as external community partners.
Key Responsibilities: Community Outreach & Engagement
- Build, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community partners including nonprofits, schools, government agencies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, and disability advocacy organizations
- Represent Starbridge at community events, fairs, meetings, workshops, and presentations
- Plan and deliver outreach campaigns, informational sessions, presentations, and webinars
- Develop and deliver educational materials and trainings for external audiences on Starbridge’s mission, programs, and disability rights
- Collaborate with intake and coordination staff to track outreach leads and ensure timely follow-up with individuals, families, and partners
Partnership Development
- Manage Starbridge-sponsored community engagement opportunities, including event coordination, sponsorship logistics, logo assets, social media promotion, and video content
- Support and co-host shared events with community partners to expand reach and impact
- Serve as Starbridge’s representative at co-branded and partnership events
Data Collection & Reporting
- Maintain accurate outreach records, including contacts, events, referrals, and outcomes
- Assist with analyzing outreach effectiveness and community engagement trends
- Contribute to reports and presentations for leadership
- Create and manage an outreach events calendar and coordinate staff participation
Marketing, Communications & Development Support
- Collaborate with Marketing, Communications, and Development teams to ensure consistent messaging across outreach, collateral, social media, and website content
- Provide feedback on accessibility, clarity, and cultural relevance of materials
- Stay informed on trends, community needs, and resources in the disability services field
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to Starbridge’s Standards of Conduct and compliance requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, human services, community development, public relations, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in community outreach, engagement, or partnership development required
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in the human services sector strongly preferred
- Experience working with diverse and underserved communities preferred
- Event planning or coordination experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Comfort with CRM systems and data tracking tools
- Experience creating content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)
- Knowledge of New York State developmental disability services (including OPWDD) preferred
- Commitment to inclusiveness, empathy, integrity, and excellence
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to plan, measure, and adapt outreach strategies
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to travel throughout the Finger Lakes region
- Evening and weekend availability as needed for events
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, not required

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
