What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Worker/General Labor position at Star of the West?
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor with coworkers, farmers, drivers, and visitors.
• Politely challenge or report any unauthorized individuals on site.
• Follow assigned cleaning and maintenance routines to ensure a safe and sanitary facility.
• Report any product, safety, or sanitation concerns immediately to the supervisor
• Perform all job functions without causing damage to company property
• Ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules to meet daily goals.
• Participate in safety and food safety meetings and training.
• Comply with all workplace and OSHA safety requirements, including PPE use.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. repetitively.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and overtime during harvest season.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
• Must wear company-required PPE and follow all food safety and sanitation policies.
Physical Demands
Physically able to perform all requirements including but not limited to:
• Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. repetitively.
• Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch as needed.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at varying heights.
Work Environment
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts and industrial equipment.
• Frequent exposure to dust, debris, and airborne particles.
• Occasional exposure to hot, cold, or humid environments depending on season.
• Moderate to loud noise levels typical of a processing plant environment
