What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Shift Miller Apprentice/Shift Miller position at Star of the West?
This is a nightshift position but will start on first shift for training .
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Monitoring the entire milling system to ensure that the process is running at optimum performance and the finished product produced meets all targeted specifications
- Measuring and recording the required parameters of the milling process
- Monitoring and recording metal detector, magnet and sifter tailing findings
- Complete assigned cleaning and maintenance activities
- Assist in the packing operation when necessary
- Responsibility to proactively offer facility and system improvements
- Actively participate in workplace safety and food safety training
- Responsibility to comply with all food safety and work place safety policies
- Responsibility to report any issues involving food safety and sanitation
- Responsibility to observe and report any unusual activity regarding site security
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of the IAOM milling correspondence course
- Successful completion of the KSU milling short course
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
- Willingness to work all shifts and weekends when required
- Physically able to perform all milling requirements including but not limited to:
- Ability to walk stairs and climb up and down bulk trailers during the course of a nine hour shift
- General cleaning
- General mill maintenance and repair
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. sacks

- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work safely from a ladder frequently
