Coal Laboratory Technician / Sample Preparation Technician
Standard Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as a Coal Laboratory Technician / Sample Preparation Technician. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced laboratory environment with opportunities to learn and develop new skills. No previous laboratory experience is required—we provide on-the-job training for qualified candidates.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare coal samples for laboratory analysis by crushing, drying, and subdividing samples.
- Perform physical characterization testing on coal and related materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Clean, inspect, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Collect and pick up samples from customer facilities as needed.
- Follow established laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- Overtime required as business needs dictate.
- Occasional call-outs and mandatory scheduled overtime may be required.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic with a dependable attendance record.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Basic math and communication skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- MSHA Surface and/or Underground certifications are a plus but are not required.
