What are the responsibilities and job description for the Welder position at Standard Iron?
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:The welder is committed to:
• Defect free and on time at the lowest cost possible for our customer
• Prevent exposures and reduce waste at the lowest cost possible for our environment
Reports to Dept ManagerESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned):•MIG weld on mild steel from 20 gauge to 1-inch thickness.
•Produce hydraulic tanks, fuel tanks, fenders, platforms, and other sheet metal fabrications following prescribed procedures.
•Welding fundamentals for all welding positions is required.
•Basic qualifications to be achieved in the training period include: D1.1 GMAW and D1.3 GMAW.
•Ability to read weld symbols, blue prints and perform set-ups.
•Select and use a variety of metal finishing tools (grinders, abrasives, etc.)
•Use of lifting and control devices (cranes, positioners, magnets, hooks, fixtures, templates, etcMARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:• Perform additional activities of execution as required
• Participate in the plan to organize, control and maintain the work environmentQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:• Obtain welding qualification, a score of 75% or better on welding assessment, and a score of 100% on general shop assessment within 1 week of job placement.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:• Previous welding experience preferred.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
