Essential Job Functions
- Assist with installing, preparing, and maintaining underground plumbing systems during slab and rough-in phases.
- Ensure trucks and crews remain operational in the foreman’s absence to prevent scheduling delays.
- Support blueprint interpretation by marking layouts, identifying installation paths, and staging required materials.
- Perform trenching, grading, bedding preparation, and backfilling tasks to support underground plumbing installations.
- Transport, load, unload, and distribute tools, pipe, fittings, equipment, and materials across the jobsite.
- Measure, cut, and prepare pipe and fittings; assist in assembling, placing, and aligning plumbing systems as directed.
- Help perform pressure tests, observe gauges, and support leak detection or system adjustments.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and jobsite equipment after proper training and under supervision.
- Maintain jobsite cleanliness, debris removal, and material organization to ensure readiness and safety.
- Communicate field needs, material shortages, or installation concerns to the Slab Foreman promptly.
- Coordinate with laborers and other trades to support smooth project execution.
- Follow all safety procedures, use PPE, and report hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Perform physically demanding work required for slab and underground plumbing operations.
- Assist the Slab Foreman in directing daily workflow and guiding laborers on tasks.
- Help train or mentor less experienced team members in proper installation and safety practices.
- Support the Foreman in maintaining jobsite organization, productivity, and communication with other trades.
- Other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems.
- Read blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and where plumbing system will be installed.
- Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems.
- Coordinate with project manager on installation.
- Install systems used to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids.
- Select all materials needed for installation, including type and size of pipe
- Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
- Assemble and install valves and fittings.
- Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks.
- Test pipe systems and fix leaks.
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and grade.
- Experience reading drawings.
- Extensive knowledge of installing and maintaining all plumbing systems.
- Safe working knowledge of all hand power tools.
- Safely work from ladders for extended periods of time.
- Measure, cut and assemble new pipe, placing the assembled pipe in hangers or other supports.
- Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipes.
- Perform rough-ins, repair and replace fixtures and water heaters, and locate, repair, or remove leaking or broken pipes.
- Assist plumbers in the layout, assembly, and installation of fixtures and materials.
- Requisition tools and equipment select type and size of pipe and collect and transport materials and equipment to work site.
- Excavate and grade ditches and lay and join pipe for water and sewer service.
- Disassemble and remove damaged or worn pipe.
- High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e., GED, college, technical or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).
- Have basic knowledge of tools and plumbing materials, including knowledge of fitting sizes and types of piping.
- Motivated and works well with others.
- OSHA10 preferred
- Must be able to pass a physical examination and obtain a medical card

- This position requires working in an outdoors environment.
