Required Qualifications:
- 8 years hands-on experience with Top Secret Security (TSS) administration.
- 5 years hands-on z/OS administration experience.
- Experience with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), and Storage Management Subsystem (SMS).
- 3 years experience with TLS configuration (certificates, SSL – RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with REXX scripting and mainframe automation.
- Experience with performance monitoring and analysis.
- Experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration.
- Working knowledge of:
- z/OS Operations & Networking (VTAM, TCP/IP)
- Job Scheduling Software (JOBTRAC)
- Terminal Emulator Tools (BlueZone, VTAM/SWITCH)
- SMP/E, RMF, SMF, WLM, JCL, GRS, VSAM, TSO
Position Overview:
The Railroad Commission of Texas is seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Top Secret Security Administrator to serve as a subject-matter expert in mainframe security, system administration, and regulatory compliance. This role supports both legacy systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance mainframe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject-matter expert in Top Secret Security Administration and z/OS operations.
- Maintain and enforce mainframe security policies, user access, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform senior-level systems administration, including configuration, troubleshooting, break/fix support, and user account management.
- Manage certificate renewals, TLS/SSL configurations, and secure file transfers (SFTP/FTPS).
- Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Support mainframe job scheduling, production control, and system maintenance.
- Collaborate with Network Administration, Customer Support, and Application Development teams to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
- (Preferred) Administer Informatica Power Exchange for Change Data Capture from IMS and VSAM sources.
- Provide end-user support for ISV tools such as BlueZone and troubleshoot platform/software issues with root cause analysis.
