What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Staffworks?
Staffworks is recruiting an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function for our client’s liquid-cooling manufacturing and distribution site in Utica, NY. This is a site leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the quality strategy, developing a strong quality team, and partnering across Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
You will serve as the site quality leader, ensuring world-class performance in product quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership and lead the site Quality Management System (QMS) and quality strategy
- Lead, coach, and develop the site Quality team
- Drive defect prevention, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve quality and process performance
- Lead customer quality initiatives, audits, and external certifications
- Manage supplier quality, incoming inspection, and nonconforming materials
- Track and improve quality KPIs including scrap, rework, FPY, and customer escapes
- Ensure audit readiness and strong compliance with quality standards
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field
- 7 years of manufacturing quality experience
- 3 years of leadership experience managing quality teams
- Strong knowledge of QMS, audits, CAPA, SPC, MSA, calibration, and supplier quality
- Proven ability to lead root cause analysis and cross-functional problem solving
- ASQ or Six Sigma certification preferred
