Role Description
The Assistant to the Property Manager supports daily property operations while coordinating resident programs and services for a tax credit senior housing community. This role assists with leasing, LIHTC compliance, resident relations, and community engagement. The position requires strong organizational skills, compassion for seniors, and familiarity with affordable and Tax Credit housing regulations.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Property Management & Administrative Support
- Assist the Property Manager with daily operations of the senior community
- Support leasing activities including waitlist management, pre-qualifications, applications, and move-ins
- Maintain resident files and documentation in accordance with LIHTC requirements
- Assist with initial and annual recertifications
- Respond to resident inquiries and concerns in a professional, respectful manner
- Assist with rent collection, notices, and basic reporting
- Assist with inspections, vendor access, and office scheduling
LIHTC Compliance Support
- Collect, review, and organize income and asset documentation
- Ensure resident files are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Support compliance reporting and audits
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident and financial information
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the Property Manager, administration, bookkeeping and maintenance staff, and outside partners
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Physical & Work Requirements
- Full-time, on-site position
- Ability to visit resident units, community spaces and multiple buildings
- Use a computer for extended periods
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in property management, social services, or administrative support
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work compassionately with senior residents
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience with LIHTC and affordable housing programs
Preferred
- Experience in senior housing, resident services, or social services
- Familiarity with property management software (e.g., Yardi breeze, RealPage)
- Knowledge of fair housing laws and tenant relations
