Job Description - Position Title: Workplace Conflict Management Trainer & Content Developer
Contract Overview
The contractor will design and deliver workplace conflict management training for Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr. Veterans Affairs Medical Center (LCLWJ VAMC) in Memphis, Tennessee, located within 50 miles of site.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced trainer and instructional designer to develop and present comprehensive workplace conflict management training for VAMC supervisors and staff. The ideal candidate will create engaging, practical content and deliver five consecutive one-day training sessions to equip healthcare professionals with essential conflict resolution skills.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development & Presentation Design
- Design a complete one-day training curriculum focused on workplace conflict management tailored to healthcare environments
- Develop all training materials, presentations, handouts, activities, and exercises in layperson language (avoiding technical jargon or providing glossary when necessary)
- Create practical, scenario-based learning activities relevant to VA medical center operations
- Ensure content addresses conflict resolution at the lowest level to reduce EEO complaints
- Develop materials that enable supervisors to handle employee issues and complaints effectively
Training Delivery
- Facilitate engaging sessions for up to 24 participants per session
- Conduct training during normal business hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Central Time)
- Adapt presentation style to accommodate healthcare professionals with varying schedules and backgrounds
- Create an interactive learning environment that promotes skill development and practical application
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Conflict Resolution, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in conflict management training and/or mediation
- Proven experience developing training curriculum and instructional materials
- Experience working with federal agencies, healthcare organizations, or VA facilities strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Presentation Skills: Exceptional public speaking and facilitation abilities with capacity to engage diverse audiences
- Content Development: Strong instructional design skills with ability to create practical, accessible training materials
- Conflict Resolution Expertise: Deep knowledge of workplace conflict dynamics, resolution strategies, and de-escalation techniques
- Communication: Ability to explain complex concepts in clear, layperson language
- Adaptability: Flexibility to work with healthcare professionals' scheduling constraints
- Cultural Competency: Understanding of diverse workplace environments and sensitivity to various conflict sources
Technical Requirements
- Proficient in presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.)

- Experience with interactive training methodologies and adult learning principles
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in mediation, conflict resolution, or related field (e.g., CPM, CMM, SHRM-CP/SCP)
- Knowledge of EEO regulations and complaint processes

- Familiarity with VA mission and organizational culture
Special Requirements
- Must obtain any necessary clearances or credentials for VA facility access

Compensation
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a contract position for a defined performance period.
