Job Duties
- Weld metal parts together using electric or gas welding equipment.
- Fill cavities and correct malformations in parts; hammer out bulges and bends in metal parts.
- Use a grinder to smooth burrs and rough edges.
- Examine parts for defects and confirm they meet quality requirements.
- Arrange work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Lift parts and dismantle metal assemblies as needed.
- Cut scrap metal using a plasma torch.
- Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- At least one year of welding experience required; MIG welding experience is needed for this role.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, welding gases, and cutting tips.
- Working knowledge of sheet metal, tooling, and tool maintenance.
- Strong measuring and math skills, including fractions and decimals.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch.
- Ability to distinguish among materials such as aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Knowledge of safe techniques for lifting heavy items.
- A high school diploma or equivalent, welding certification, and manufacturing experience are preferred.
