These are the qualifications that matter.
- 3 years of hands-on experience preparing HVAC estimates for commercial construction projects.
- Background working on design-build projects and integrated project delivery environments is preferred.
- Solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems, construction methods, and applicable codes.
- Experience using HVAC estimating software along with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scope documentation.
- Familiarity with CAD and Revit platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills for engaging with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Examine project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare precise HVAC cost projections.
- Complete detailed quantity take-offs and calculate labor, material, and equipment requirements.
- Review and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable pricing.
- Interpret construction documents to define project scope and identify potential risks or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to confirm that estimates align with project scope, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Apply current local and national HVAC codes and standards to ensure all estimates meet compliance requirements.
- Participate in preconstruction meetings and conduct site visits as necessary to evaluate conditions and collect project information.
- Deliver thorough, well-documented HVAC estimates covering labor, materials, and equipment in a timely manner.
