Lab Director of Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics
Location: Detroit, MI
Base Salary - USD $160,000/yr to $172,000/yr plus benefits
Relocation Assistance Available - Possible for ideal candidate
We are seeking a PhD-level laboratory genetics leader to oversee technical operations across Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics Laboratories within an academic medical center.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead laboratory technical operations, quality, and compliance
• Oversee testing methodologies, processes, staffing, and training
• Support laboratory strategy, budgets, and performance improvement
• Collaborate with physicians, genetic counselors, and medical/administrative leadership
• Participate in teaching residents, fellows, and students
Requirements:
✅ PhD in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or related Life Science
✅ Board certification or active candidacy through ABMGG in a relevant laboratory genetics discipline
✅ Clinical laboratory management/technical experience preferred
✅ Experience with NGS, RT-PCR, Sanger, microarray, FISH, and karyotyping
✅ Knowledge of CLIA and CAP regulations
