Position Details
- Type: Permanent
- Salary: 80-110K (commensurate with experience)
- Reports to: School Director
- Start Date: 2026-2027 school year
- Hours: 7:30am to 4:45pm, plus some responsibilities outside school hours
Curriculum & Instruction
- Teach Latin and Debate across several grade levels
- Deliver standards-aligned lessons from a rigorous, established classical curriculum
- Refine lessons for clarity, rigor, and relevance with support from instructional coaches
- Drive gap-closing gains so students reach mastery of New York State Standards
Data Analysis
- Collect and analyze academic and behavior data to identify student needs
- Work with colleagues and coaches on data-driven instructional improvements
Culture
- Run a structured classroom built on respect, responsibility, and citizenship
- Build warm, positive relationships with students so learning feels joyful every day
- Partner with families to share progress and celebrate wins
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in History, Classics, Education, or a related field, OR at least 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching, reading, and speaking Latin (required)
- Strong classroom management skills
- Teaching certification preferred
- Experience at a high-performing charter school preferred
- Excellent work ethic and organizational skills
