EXPERIENCED INJECTION MOLDING TECHNICIAN NEEDED!
SFI is currently hiring for a Injection Molding Technician for a position located in Hebron, KY. This is a full time position with one of the top caster and wheel manufacturers in the world. Candidate must have 3-5 years experience to qualify. Starting pay rate is $16-20/hr depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tool Setter: A Tool setter is an individual who efficiently and safely takes out and installs molds in to the appropriate machine for processing of plastic components. This includes color changes and supporting the Lead.
Must assure that all Lock Out / Tag Out and all safety PPE is followed at all times.
Must be able to work assigned overtime to cover all customer demands as assigned.
Proficient at troubleshooting setting up secondary equipment such as Thermolaters, heat controllers, and conveyors.
Complete all change over sheets and all paperwork that applies to various stages of production.
Participate in the development and implementation of all line improvements.
Efficiently and safely incorporate SMED into all tool changes
Make sure to verify the material and color for the next mold are available and that the current material is ran out by shutting off the material draw. NOTE: Have the next set-up book, nozzle, water lines, etc. on the tool cart ready for changeover.
Gather all required items listed in the Mold Book for tool change prior to installing the next tool which saves valuable time. Use the Mold change cart for the staging of all clamps, bolts, hoses, and anything needed.
Bring out the current molds wood skid then bring out the new tool going in.
Once the current mold is out, remove all previous products from the machine, and drop area for (Line Clearing). It is essential that we have no product in or around the machine that could contaminate the next order’s product or even fall into the machine while running.
Put all Molds removed in to the red boxed off area which are numbered by Machine number in front of Tool room so that they can get preventive maintenance.
Once the new Mold is installed verify that the new program or Set-Up is loaded and all functions like Ejector stroke and distance, Machine Nozzle, and E.O.A.T. (end of arm tooling) are installed and functioning properly. (If the job requires E.O.A.T.)
Once Tool change is complete, before starting the machine verify the material is drying at the proper temp. and est. time for dry material is written on dry erase sheet on the dryer.
Before starting the machine verify all conveyors and drop chutes are clean and free of grease or contaminates.
Once machine is started and has had enough time to settle in and runs consistently in auto cycle remove one complete set of parts for “First Piece Inspection”. Leaving machine running will be on a tool by tool basis which is determined by several factors like but not limited to additional product needed to produce, expensive Bearings, Tires, etc…
Communicate all information to Lead and make sure that “first piece” has been Quality checked and meets all established dimensional and cosmetic standards
Make sure tool cart is clean and organized per 5-S principles once tool change is completed.
