Overview:

StaffBuffalo is working with an established organization to hire a Transportation Manager, paying $100,000-$110,000 plus bonus. This full-time leadership role takes full ownership of the delivery process, including operational improvements, dispatch, employee management, fleet management, and equipment oversight.

The Transportation Manager will create and dispatch routes for company-owned vehicles and third-party carriers, monitor deliveries through GPS and fleet systems, and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and equipment availability. This hands-on leader will manage multiple routes and priorities while responding to delays, urgent requests, and changing operational needs.

The ideal candidate brings transportation or dispatch experience, previous supervisory experience, strong operational judgment, and a leadership approach built on clear expectations and accountability. The position also supports DOT compliance, safety, vendor coordination, operational record-keeping, and improvements that reduce disruptions and improve efficiency.

This role includes on-call responsibilities outside of regular business hours to address urgent operational needs when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of delivery operations, overseeing dispatch, transportation staff, fleet management, and equipment.

  • Supervise drivers and transportation personnel, including assignments, performance, coaching, and accountability; coordinate company-owned vehicles and carriers.

  • Create, schedule, and dispatch routes; monitor drivers and deliveries through GPS, fleet management, and routing systems; communicate schedules, issues, and ETAs to drivers, customers, vendors, and internal teams.

  • Resolve delays, route changes, equipment issues, urgent requests, and operational disruptions; improve processes to reduce preventable issues and after-hours emergencies.

  • Maintain DOT regulatory compliance, company safety procedures, and applicable transportation requirements.

  • Oversee facility and equipment operations; coordinate fleet maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, required inspections, and outside vendors to minimize downtime.

  • Support transportation and field operations, resolve delivery and service issues, maintain accurate records in spreadsheets and transportation systems, and respond to urgent after-hours operational needs when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in logistics, business, supply chain, or a related field preferred.

  • 2-5 years of transportation, dispatch, logistics, trucking, delivery, or related operational experience; previous management or supervisory experience required.

  • Direct management of drivers or transportation employees strongly preferred; ability to coordinate multiple drivers, routes, deliveries, and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of DOT regulations, transportation compliance, and applicable safety requirements.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and process-improvement skills; calm and decisive judgment in time-sensitive situations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience with GPS fleet tracking, transportation management software, digital routing, or dispatch systems.

  • Experience with third-party carriers, high-volume dispatch, fleet maintenance, and vendor management preferred.

Benefits:

  • $100,000-$110,000 base salary, depending on experience.

  • Bonus opportunity.

  • Full-time leadership opportunity with ownership of the delivery process.

  • Responsibility across dispatch, employee management, fleet, carrier relationships, and equipment operations.

  • Opportunity to lead process improvements in organization, planning, communication, and transportation efficiency.
