Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controller with a strong background in homebuilding, residential construction, or land development to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing organization. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional job costing expertise, a thorough understanding of subcontractor accounting, and the ability to provide financial insight that supports operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
● Lead all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions.
● Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, cost tracking, and profitability analysis.
● Manage subcontractor accounting, including compliance tracking, insurance requirements, payment processing, and contract administration.
● Develop and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
● Partner with construction operations and executive leadership to monitor project performance and financial results.
● Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital planning.
● Ensure compliance with GAAP and company financial policies.
● Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and relationships with external accounting partners.
● Implement and strengthen internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting systems.
● Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
● 7 years of progressive accounting leadership experience within homebuilding, residential construction, land development, or a related industry.
● Strong expertise in job costing, project accounting, subcontractor management, and WIP reporting.
● Experience managing month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
● Knowledge of construction accounting software and ERP systems.
● Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
● CPA designation preferred but not required.
● Proven ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and operational teams.
