Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to support and enhance a growing enterprise-level data environment. This role will focus on SQL Server administration, database design, and performance optimization, while also leveraging modern AI tools to improve efficiency and automation across data operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server environments (2019, 2022, and 2025) across production and non-production systems
- Design, implement, and manage database schemas and architecture to support scalable business applications
- Develop and optimize RESTful API integrations for data access and system interoperability
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement tuning strategies for high availability and reliability
- Collaborate with engineering and application teams to design and build databases from the ground up
- Leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, OpenAI/ChatGPT) to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and enhance database operations
- Support cloud-based database solutions within Microsoft Azure environments (PaaS/IaaS)
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with best practices
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2019, 2022, and newer versions)
- Hands-on experience in Azure (Azure SQL, Managed Instances, or VM-based SQL)
- Experience working in a mid-to-large enterprise environment (structured, scalable systems—not small shop environments)
- Proven experience in database design, schema creation, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and how databases interact with application layers
- Exposure to or hands-on use of AI tools (e.g., Claude, OpenAI) in a technical or operational context
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise-level environments with complex data ecosystems (but not overly siloed like large financial institutions)
- Strong understanding of data architecture, indexing strategies, and query optimization
- Experience supporting high-availability environments (replication, clustering, failover)
- Scripting experience (T-SQL, PowerShell, or similar)
