Objective:
Lead the design, operation, and evolution of a modern data platform, with a focus on Lakehouse architecture, analytics enablement, and scalable cloud-based data solutions. We are seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to help drive our transition to a modern, cloud-based data ecosystem. This role primarily focuses on data platform engineering with Databricks and Azure, while maintaining essential SQL Server operations and enabling data extraction tools with Qlik and Databricks.
This position will play a key role in building scalable data solutions, supporting analytics, and advancing our adoption of Lakehouse architecture.
Key Responsibilities
Data Platform Engineering (Primary Focus)
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and processing workflows in Databricks
- Contribute to the development and operation of the data Lakehouse architecture (Databricks / Delta Lake)
- Support ingestion, transformation, and organization of large-scale datasets
- Apply data warehousing concepts to structure high-quality analytical datasets
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of data platform workloads
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Qlik dashboards, data models, and applications
- Ensure high-performance, reliable data delivery to business users
- Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into data-driven insights
- Optimize underlying data structures for efficient BI consumption
- Support and execute data platform modernization initiatives in Azure
- Help migrate and integrate on-prem SQL workloads into a cloud-based architecture
- Align data solutions with cloud-native and scalable design principles
- Support SQL Server environments (on-prem and Azure) as needed
- Perform backups, restore, and migration activities (SQL Server)
- Assist with performance tuning and database reliability. Ensure proper data governance and recovery strategies
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Databricks (core requirement)
- Strong experience with Qlik (Qlik Sense and/or QlikView) — required
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling— required
- Experience with SQL Server (queries, performance tuning, backup/restore)— required
- Experience working with Azure data platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing or supporting Lakehouse architectures (Delta Lake)
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration frameworks
- Programming/scripting experience (Python, SQL, etc.)
- Familiarity with Azure data services (ADF, Synapse, etc.)
- Familiarity with No SQL Databases (MongoDB, Cosmos DB, etc.)
