St. Vincent's Hospital Westchester Division in Harrison, NY is seeking a full-time Human Resources Assistant. This front-line HR role is a full-time, non-exempt position which provides all aspects of human resources office support services including typing, record keeping, filing, telephone reception and related organizational duties i.e. recruitment, pre-employment background checks, license verifications, on-boarding, new employee orientation etc. Assigned tasks require initiative, organization and independent judgment in solving routine problems. Provides clerical duties for all services required.

This role involves assisting with employee onboarding, maintaining HR records, and contributing to the smooth operation of HR systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational skills, able to multi-task in a high pace environment and a passion for working in human resources.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Screens walk in employment applications/ applicants, distributes same and pre-screens for accuracy, schedules pre-employment physicals, checks references, assists with new employee orientations.
  • Maintain and update HR records, systems, and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Assist in managing employee relations by addressing inquiries and providing support as needed.
  • Conduct background checks and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepares all monthly employee recognition letters obtained from management staff and types recognition letters on behalf of nominated employee(s).
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline HR workflows and improve efficiency
  • Support the administration and maintenance of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Handle general administrative tasks and organizing HR events
  • Respond to employee requests and provide guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal HR policies.
  • Other office duties, such as answering telephone/screen calls and taking messages, review and sort and file a variety of material; open, review and distribute mail, bringing prioritized items to supervisor's attention.
  • Assists in preparing and maintaining employment, pay and benefit records related to events such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers or promotions, worker's compensation, and unemployment administration in cooperation with outside vendors as applicable

Qualifications
Associates' degree in Business Administration and Human Resources experience, preferably in a healthcare setting with exposure to HRIS and recruiting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive and confidential matters effectively to all professional levels within the organization.
Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, diligent task follow-through and customer service orientation.
Strong planning, time management and problem solving skills.
* Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking tools, preferred.
* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

 

Two years of human resources experience preferred

 

Location: Harrison, NY

 

Salary Range: $42,000 -- $45,000 (based on exp)
