Position Summary
The Food Service Specialist / Kitchen Manager oversees all daily operations of the community kitchen, including meal preparation, food safety, inventory management, volunteer coordination, and maintaining a welcoming, respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals following nutritional and organizational standards.

Supervise kitchen staff and volunteers; provide training and scheduling support.

Ensure full compliance with all health department rules and food safety standards.

Manage inventory, track food donations, and coordinate deliveries.
-
Create weekly menus based on available food and budget.
-
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment.

Monitor equipment and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed.

Work collaboratively with program directors for events and community service needs.

Uphold the mission and values of St. Vincent DePaul.
Qualifications

Experience in commercial or institutional food service (required).

Previous supervisory or kitchen management experience preferred.

ServSafe certification (required) or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Strong understanding of food safety practices and sanitation standards.

Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
