The Workforce Opportunities Program is an individualized service program that caters to those experiencing income and housing insecurity. Individuals joining our program are actively looking to change their circumstances and be a part of a supportive community. The purpose of this program is to help guests in our dining rooms and interim housing communities with the following:

  • Find livable wage jobs.
  • Create or update a resume.
  • Get connected with on-the-job training programs, certifications, education, and skill building programs.
  • Soft-skills enhancement
  • Obtaining workplace uniforms/ equipment for qualified individuals 
  • Housing navigation
  • Removing all other barriers to end homelessness.

 Job Summary:

Reporting to the Workforce Support Manager, the Workforce Case Manager will act as a bridge to ongoing services, an advocate for guest needs, and an assistant to the removal of barriers to progress for guests in SVdP’s community dining rooms and Interim Housing Communities. The Workforce Case Manager will help map out plans and access to services, employment opportunities, and support for program participants. This person will also act as an advisor for Workforce Opportunities Fellows. Guidance includes linkage to identified available services, resume writing, soft-skills enhancement, job and housing search, development of detailed service or case plans, and ongoing monitoring of guest progress.

 

The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a team of staff and volunteers and can think and act quickly when there is a need to pivot or address an emergency.  This candidate can think critically and help guests determine a course of action that will move them toward stability. This individual can work independently while ensuring complete and thorough communication with team members and Fellows. The best candidate for this post is very organized, detail oriented, comfortable with creating lines of communication with community programs, and able to encourage and support follow through from guests and Fellows. This individual must be energetic, resourceful, and reliable with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for working with vulnerable populations. This person will exhibit the demonstrated ability and desire to maintain and promote an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Maintain a caseload of approximately 20-25 workforce-focused clients.
  • Actively recruit new participants and conduct assessments to determine clients’ needs and eligibility for workforce programs.
  • Develop individualized service plans (ISPs) in collaboration with clients; focus on skills development, job readiness, and career goals.
  • Provide counseling, guidance, and support to clients facing barriers to employment.
  • Connect clients with resources and services, such as skills training, education, and certifications.
  • Coordinate with employers, training providers, and community organizations to facilitate job placement assistance and training opportunities.
  • Support guests with housing search and resources
  • Transport guests to appointments as needed
  • Ensure that complete and accurate electronic records of guest encounters are generated within 24 hours of interaction using the HMIS database.
  • Monitor guest care plans, goals, and service referrals to ensure engagement. 
  • Engage team members in joint problem solving. 
  • Provide supervision, support, direction, and engagement to Workforce Opportunities Fellows
  • Establish HMIS data entry and documentation standards for guests.
  • Offer help to team members when able; ask for help when needed.
  • Model skills and assist team members to verbally de-escalate guests as needed.
  • Coordinate incident intervention with other staff and security when needed. 
  • Appropriately document and inform leadership of any incidents or concerns.
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and agency events as requested or required.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the Workforce Supervisor & Program Manager
  • Participate in and serve as a model for SVdP’s Culture of Philanthropy, and ensure SVdP volunteers feel welcomed and appreciated *

Hiring Requirements of the Role 
  • 2 years of prior experience in a related field such as case management, social services, workforce development... etc. 
  • Ability to report to more than one work site as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable 39-month motor vehicle record (position may require transportation of clients to connect with services).
  • High School Diploma GED or Equivalent 
Preferred Hiring Requirements
  • Knowledge of available community support and services, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using HMIS (Homeless Management Information System).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, staff, and volunteers. A minimum of 6 months experience working with varied populations required (strict minimum).
Physical Requirements: 
  • Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds are required for this position.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate orally and in writing required.
