Position Summary
The Human Resources and Total Rewards Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Human Resources function at Saint Ursula Academy. This position manages all aspects of the employee lifecycle—including recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations—while ensuring practices align with the school’s mission and Ursuline values and supports a workplace culture grounded in excellence, inclusion, and personal dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Model and promote the mission, vision, and Ursuline values of Saint Ursula Academy.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive school culture rooted in Catholic educational principles.
- Support and implement talent and culture initiatives aligned with the school’s strategic plan.
- Ensure HR practices comply with all local, state, and federal employment laws.
- Maintain current knowledge of HR trends and legal requirements.
- Manage and update employee policies; ensure ethical handling of confidential information.
- Lead full-cycle recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of school personnel.
- Collaborate with leadership on workforce planning, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
- Maintain and update job descriptions; support professional development initiatives.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and Board HR committee experts
- Oversee employee benefits, enrollment, and changes related to life events.
- Reconcile benefits invoices and manage annual open enrollment.
- Prepare annual compensation statements; ensure competitive salary structures.
- Serve as a resource for performance management, conflict resolution, and employee concerns.
- Collaborate with leadership in managing investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding procedures.
- Serve on the HR and 403(b) plan committees
- Provide regular reporting and insights to the VP of Operations and school leadership.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum of five years of professional HR experience, with at least three years collaborating on conflict-resolution. HR certification (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) or certified employee benefits specialist (CEBS) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Solid knowledge of employment laws (e.g., EEO, ADA, FMLA) and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and payroll/HRIS systems.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic school environment.
- High attention to detail, discretion, and integrity.
- Experience using compensation data to maintain competitive pay structures.
