Summary
The Payroll Analyst will oversee the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Essential Functions

- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Responsible for accurately processing tax deductions on tuition benefits.
- Prepares reconciliation and transmission of periodic and quarterly files.
- Set up and maintain appropriate benefit and other deduction codes and processes for collecting employee withholding.
- Maintains vacation and sick balances.
- Creates positions and departments in the payroll system that align with the proper general ledger accounts.
- Responsible for unemployment, W2 Reporting and E-Verify.
- Ensures that benefit rates and adjustments are done and calculated on a timely basis.
- Maintains good communication with Paycom and in a timely manner.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with payroll software; ideally Paycom knowledge
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Travel
Payroll seminars, professional development, or events, as needed.
Qualifications:Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- Three to five years of related experience required.
