JOB SUMMARY:
The Women’s Pavilion RN is responsible for the independent nursing functions of the Women’s Pavilion. Responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating procedures, medical history intake, medication review and patient education. Direct patient care and communication of benign results with patients. Tracking and sending patient letters based on radiology exam results. Liaison to community providers. Ordering and reconciling meds. Calling patients back for additional procedures as recommended and obtaining physician orders for testing. Assisting radiologists, technicians and others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
RN-Licensed by the State of Louisiana Board of Nursing. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience. Prefer experience in women’s health or oncology services; EPIC experience is a plus. Must maintain yearly CNE nursing requirements and competency checks. Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with patients of all types and ages; Must possess strong guest relations skills as excellent communication/social skills are specifically required for this position; Must be able to maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times; Must be self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve; Must have strong organizational skills; Must have strong critical thinking skill; the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and strong computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) – handling/feeling, hearing, seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - reaching, talking
Occasionally (1%-33%) –lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching
