Job Summary
Job description/Responsibilities: Part-Time AM/PM SHIFTS APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $35.95 - $42.93 POSITION SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist prepare and dispense medication upon receipt of an order from physicians and process all related duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Prepares adequate doses for inpatient medication orders for dispensing under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist. Fills and delivers patient medication cassettes accurately. Fills and delivers medication to the automated dispensing machines accurately. Uses aseptic technique in the preparation of I.V. admixtures. Conducts I.V. rounds to ensure the I.V. needs of patients are fulfilled. Maintains an adequate inventory level of I.V. additives, dose pharmaceuticals, and general supplies. Conducts monthly inspections/audits, as assigned. Processes request for replenishment of pharmacy. Trains new technicians/students. Maintains documentation required by The Joint Commission, MERP, and/or the State Board of Pharmacy. Processes and puts away drug orders. Repackages bulk drug items and compounds non-sterile/sterile products as required. Other Duties Enters orders into the computer and leaves the order for verification by the pharmacist. Answers the phone and relays all drugs information questions for the pharmacist to answer Compiles daily and monthly statistics of department workload. Keeps all pharmacy resource materials current by the addition and revision of supplements. Files documents and records. Completes daily requirements of charging and crediting. Organizes outdated or overstocked medications to ship back to the manufacturer for credit. Assists in recall and shortage procedures. Logs and stores patients' own medications. Maintains a clean working environment. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
Required Qualification: QUALIFICATIONS *License/Certification Current California Pharmacy Technician Certification *Proof of all required License(s) and Certification(s) due at time of hire **Education Graduate from a technician training program or currently enrolled in a College of Pharmacy. **Proof of all required educational levels due at time of hire Experience Experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred. Skills Knowledge and experience in UD, I.V. additives, and therapeutics Computer skills required Clinical skills preferred Competence in basic pharmaceutical calculations Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients The employee must demonstrate basic computer skills
